STS: New Links on the Quick Launch Bar of a SharePoint Team Web Site Have No Text

This article was previously published under Q288541

SYMPTOMS

In FrontPage 2002, if you apply a theme to a SharePoint team Web site Quick Launch bar, and then create new items in a Web browser, the new items have no text.

CAUSE

FrontPage generates the "Text on GIF" overlay on the client side and then uploads it to the server. When you add a link to the SharePoint team Web site Quick Launch bar through the browser, the text to the GIF is not appended to the new item because FrontPage is not involved.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the page in FrontPage, and then click Save without making any changes. This action causes FrontPage to regenerate the "Text on GIF" overlay on the client side and upload it to the server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft SharePoint Team Services
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Standard Edition
