FP2002: Entries for Fpexedll.dll Are Added to Each Extended Site
This article was previously published under Q294150
When you install the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions or SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft on multiple Web sites on a Web server running Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), an entry for the Fpexedll.dll ISAPI filter is added to each extended site.
Installing the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions or SharePoint Team Services adds a reference for the Fpexedll.dll ISAPI filter to each Web site. This provides backward-compatibility for older FrontPage clients and allows SharePoint to support backward-compatibility for Office 2000 users of Web discussions and subscriptions. (This filter is not necessary for people using Office XP).
If backward-compatibility is not required, this filter is not necessary and you can remove any references to the Fpexedll.dll filter. For additional information, click the article number below

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
