Coordinator Cannot Delete Discussions Stored Outside the Workspace
This article was previously published under Q294339
A coordinator may not be able to delete discussions on documents stored on the server but outside any workspaces. For example, a coordinator may not be able to delete discussions of external Web sites. These discussions are managed from the Manage Discussions page, which is accessed from the Management dashboard. In addition, the coordinator may not be able to delete discussions created by using the Office Online Collaboration toolbar in Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Office on documents with URLs that use high ASCII or double-byte character set (DBCS).
To delete these discussions, the administrator must use the Installable File System (IFS) to access the Web Storage System drive. For instructions on how to mount the Web Storage System drive, see the "IFS Drive and the Microsoft Web Storage System" section in the SharePoint Portal Server Release Notes.
External discussions are stored on the Web Storage System drive that you mount under \localhost\SharePoint Portal Server\workspaces\system\Discussions. You must display hidden folders to view these folders.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
You can also delete discussions by using ActiveX Data Objects (ADO). For more information, see Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Software Development Kit.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
