No Item Receives Focus When You Press TAB on the Connections Tab of Internet Options

This article was previously published under Q296355

SYMPTOMS

When you press the TAB key to proceed to the next item on the Connections tab of the Internet Options dialog box (on the Tools menu), no item receives focus or becomes active as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions exist:
  • The Setup button was the previously active item.
  • The Dial-up settings list is empty.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, press the TAB key again. The next item on the Connections tab now becomes active.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When the Setup button is selected and you press TAB, an item in the Dial-up settings list becomes active. When no items are displayed in the list, focus is "lost" until you again press TAB. The Add button then becomes active.
