PRB: NetMeeting Chat Error Between Version 2.11 and 3.01 Clients
This article was previously published under Q296621
When a NetMeeting 2.11 client that is in a conference state with a NetMeeting 3.01 client starts a chat session and immediately sends a message, the following error message is returned:
Other Chats are not ready to receive your message now, please try again after the title bar shows other Chats are in use.
This is due to a compatibility problem between the version 2.11 and 3.01 clients that causes a networking delay in the establishment of the chat channel.
This problem does not occur when both the clients are running NetMeeting 3.01. To resolve this problem, upgrade the 2.11 client to 3.01. You can download the 3.01 client from the following Microsoft Web site:
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Establish a conference between NetMeeting 2.11 and NetMeeting 3.01 clients (see NetMeeting Help).
- Start a chat conversation on the NetMeeting 2.11 client.
- Immediately type a short message and click Send.
The error message that is listed in the "Symptoms" section appears.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
