Toolbar Icons Are Displayed as Small Icons After You Upgrade to Internet Explorer 6

This article was previously published under Q298614

SYMPTOMS

When you set your toolbar icons to be displayed as large icons in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or earlier, and then you upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, the toolbar icons are unexpectedly displayed as small icons.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because, by default, Internet Explorer 6.0 displays the toolbar icons as small icons.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, change the toolbar icon settings so that the toolbar icons are displayed as large icons in Internet Explorer 6.0. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer 6.0.
  2. On the View menu, click Toolbars, and then click Customize.
  3. In the Customize Toolbar dialog box, click the down arrow in the Icon options box, click Large icons, and then click Close.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
