The Help Topic for the "Don't Display Online Media Content in the Media Bar" Option May Be Missing

SYMPTOMS

Your computer may experience any of the following symptoms:
  • The Help topic that is associated with the Don't display online media content in the media bar option in the Multimedia section of the Advanced tab in the Internet Options tool is missing.
  • If you click to select (or click to clear) the Don't display online media content in the media bar check box, this option does not take effect until you restart Internet Explorer.
  • The Don't display online media content in the media bar option is available in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, but the Media bar is not available in Windows NT 4.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To prevent Internet Explorer from playing Web media in the Media bar:
  1. Open Internet Explorer, and then click Media on the toolbar.
  2. At the bottom of the Media bar, click Media Options, click Settings, and then click to clear the Play Web media in the bar check box.
