Microsoft Virtual Machine Updates Are Available Only from Windows Update
This article was previously published under Q299672
Updates to the Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM) are
available only if you are currently running a version of the Microsoft VM.
Note Microsoft does not produce a 64-bit native Microsoft VM, but this
information also applies to the 32-bit Microsoft VM under WOW64 in 64-Bit versions of Windows.
Because the Microsoft VM is not included with some versions of Windows,
programs that require the Microsoft VM may not work properly if it is not
installed.

For additional information about the availability of the Microsoft VM, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
Internet Explorer no longer offers
the Microsoft VM by means of
Install on Demand. Security updates to the Microsoft VM are available from Windows Update only if you are already running a
version of the Microsoft VM.
Hardware manufacturers may have included the Microsoft VM on
computers that had Windows XP preinstalled, and the Microsoft VM was included
with earlier Microsoft operating systems. The Microsoft VM may also be included with some third-party programs. Third-party Java virtual machines are also available, but
Microsoft has not tested any third-party virtual machines with Windows.
The
third-party products that are discussed in this article are manufactured by
companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no warranty,
implied or otherwise, regarding the performance or reliability of these
products.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
