BUG: Setup and BizTalk Messaging Service Fail When You Connect to a Clustered SQL Server
This article was previously published under Q303453
When you attempt to connect BizTalk Server to a clustered
Microsoft SQL Server computer, the BizTalk Server Setup program and the BizTalk
Messaging Service fail, and the following error message occurs:
CIS_E_ADMIN_DBCONNECT - "BizTalk Server failed to access
the "%1" database on the "%2" server with the database connection information.
The error message is the result of an Access Denied message
that is returned by the SQL Server OLEDB Provider. The Access Denied error
message occurs because all attempts to connect to the clustered SQL Server
computer are done by using Windows NT Authentication instead of SQL Server
Authentication, which is what the BizTalk Server Setup program is attempting to
use.
Install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 on the
BizTalk Server computer that will connect to a clustered SQL Server computer.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a
problem in BizTalk Server 2000.
For more information about Microsoft Data Access Components
(MDAC), see the Microsoft Universal Data Access Web site:

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.

didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
