Incorrect Information Is Displayed in Content Advisor Rating Label Message

This article was previously published under Q303478

SYMPTOMS

When you enable Content Advisor in Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then attempt to visit a Web site (for example, www.microsoft.com), the following error message may be displayed under This page may contain some or all of the following in the Content Advisor dialog box
The rating label found for "Web site" does not belong to this page. It is intended for "" instead.
where Web site is the Uniform Resource Identifier (URL) of the Web site that you are visiting. As a result, you may have to type your Content Advisor password to view the Web site.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you attempt to visit a Web page that has been rated by using a for quotedURL clause in the Platform for Internet Content Selection (PICS) label. Content Advisor displays a message informing you that the content rating label does not belong to the page. The message incorrectly displays a "" instead of the URL of the Web site to which the message refers.

For information about the for quotedURL clause in PICS labels, browse to the following Web site:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-PICS-labels (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-PICS-labels)

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps to view the Web site:
  1. Under If you still want to see this site, someone must type in the supervisor password, click the viewing option that you want applied to all users of this site.
  2. Type the supervisor password in the Password box, and then click OK.
For example, if you want all users to be able to view this Web site without typing a supervisor password, click Always allow this Web site to be viewed, type the supervisor password, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Content Advisor in Internet Explorer allows you to control the types of Internet content that your computer can gain access to. After you enable Content Advisor, only rated content that meets or exceeds your criteria can be viewed. The first time that you turn on Content Advisor, the rating levels are set to the most conservative level. You can modify these settings to match your own preferences.

NOTE: Content Advisor settings apply to all users on the local computer and cannot be changed by users who are not administrators on the local computer (Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000 only). You cannot create different Content Advisor settings for different users on the same computer.

For more information about Content Advisor, click Contents and Index on the Help menu, click the Index tab in Internet Explorer Help, type the following text
content advisor
and then double-click the selected text to go to the "Content Advisor" topic. If you are unable to find the information you need, ask the Office Assistant.
