Setup Fails During Post Installation Phase

SYMPTOMS

Setup fails during the Post Installation phase and the following information is logged in Errortext.log:

[08/16/01,14:09:37] SharePoint Portal Server: [0] CPkmSetupComponent::InitializeWebStore, Unable to initialze Web Storage System! hr=0x4976942c
[08/16/01,14:17:17] SharePoint Portal Server: [2] GetFirstStorageGroupObject, Error getting element from StorageGroups array. hr=0x8002000b.

In addition, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is not started. When you try to start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, the following error is logged in the System log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Description:
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated with service-specific error 0.

RESOLUTION

Use the procedure that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to completely remove SharePoint Portal Server:

NOTE: When you remove SharePoint Portal Server, make sure the Web Storage System folder is removed before you attempt to install the program again.
