"Buffering Off " Error Message May Be Displayed When You Access Dashboard Site

This article was previously published under Q306805

SYMPTOMS

When you access the workspace dashboard site, you may receive the following error message:
Response object error 'ASP 0159 : 80004005' Buffering Off
/workspace_name/Portal/resources/GlobalizedStrings.vbs, line 3 Buffering must be on.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because buffering was disabled on the Default Web Site throughout installation and the workspace virtual directory inherited this setting. Workspace virtual directories must have buffering enabled.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, enable buffering on the workspace virtual directory. To do so:

  1. Start Internet Services Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Default Web Site, right-click the workspace virtual directory, and then click Properties.
  3. On the Virtual Directory tab, click Configuration.
  4. On the App Options tab, click Enable buffering.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK.
  6. Restart the IIS Admin Service.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001
