New home page is not displayed in browser after you publish your web in Office FrontPage

This article was previously published under Q307243

SYMPTOMS

When you view your Web site after you create a new home page, your home page is not displayed in your browser even though your Web is successfully published. Your previous home page is still displayed in your browser window.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the file name of your new home page does not match the Web server's default home page name. For example, the name of your home page is Index.htm, and the name of the default home page set on your Web server is Index.html.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, rename your home page to match the Web server's default home page name, and then republish your Web. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: The file that is identified as the home page depends on the Web server that you are using. To determine the correct name of the home page used by your Web server, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  1. Start Microsoft FrontPage, and then open your Web.
  2. In the Folder List, right-click the file you want to rename, and then click Rename.
  3. Type the correct name for your home page.

Click Yes if you receive either of the following messages:
If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable.

Are you sure you want to change it?
    -or-
There are x pages that have hyperlinks to this page.

Do you want to update these pages so the hyperlinks will not be broken?
  4. Republish your Web.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other.
