Error Message While Installing Server Extensions: Cfgquiet.ini: An Internal Error Has Occurred
This article was previously published under Q310856
When you attempt to perform a
quiet installation of FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions from a command line, you may receive the following error message:
CFGQUIET.INI: An internal error has occurred []
This behavior can occur if the Windows System account has insufficient permissions to write to the drive that you specify in the Cfgquiet.ini file.
To resolve this issue, give the System account Full Control permissions to the drive on which you want to install the FrontPage Server Extensions. To do this, follow these steps.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, click Windows Explorer, and then locate the drive for which you want to set permissions.
- Right-click the drive, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
- Click Add. In the Name list, click SYSTEM, click Add, and then click OK.
- Select SYSTEM, and then click to select the Full Control check box under Allow.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
- Quit Windows Explorer.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
