Pocket PC 2002 Stops Responding When SHGetFileInfo Is Called Immediately After a Reset
This article was previously published under Q311277
When the Today plug-in uses a
SHGetFileInfo call immediately after a reset, your device may stop responding (hang). After this occurs, you must reset your device, and this may result in the loss of all data on your device.
This issue can occur because if your device is not fully initialized after a reset, the
SHGetFileInfo call can cause the device to stop responding.
This issue only applies to a device that is running the Pocket PC 2002 operating system. Devices that are running Pocket PC 2000 or earlier do not exhibit this behavior.
SHGetFileInfo should not be called during a reset initialization process. The Today plug-in should defer such action until the device is known to be done with the reset initialization.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
