SUMMARY

During online conference meetings, you may have to prevent other participants from starting any or all of the default NetMeeting features, which includes the white board, chat, file transfer, and application sharing.

There is presently no way to administer this change in functionality from the Exchange Conferencing Server, therefore, the configuration must be administratively defined by using Windows 2000 Group Policy Objects (GPOs). This article explains where a conferencing administrator may go to manage these features.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. In Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click the top-level domain object, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Group Policy tab.
  3. Click the Default Domain Policy, and then click Edit to open the Group Policy window.
  4. Under User Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then expand NetMeeting.
In the NetMeeting container, you can disable any NetMeeting functionality that you want. After you modify these settings, all users and groups that have this policy applied to them will adhere to these specific settings.

NOTE: The preceding information pertains to Windows 2000 and later. For earlier version clients that cannot take advantage of the preceding Windows 2000 policy, you must use the NetMeeting Resource Kit to create a NetMeeting self-extracting executable, and define the appropriate settings.

For additional information about the administration and configuration of policies, refer to Windows 2000 Help.
