Obtaining and Installing MDAC

You can obtain the latest version of MDAC from the following Microsoft Web site:

ODBC Components Shipped with MDAC

The following ODBC components are shipped as part of the MDAC installation:
  • Odbc32.dll - ODBC Driver Manager
  • Odbc32gt.dll - ODBC Driver Generic Thunking
  • Odbcad32.exe - ODBC Administrator
  • Odbcconf.dll - ODBC Driver Configuration Program
  • Odbcconf.exe - ODBC Driver Configuration Program
  • Odbcconf.rsp - ODBC Driver Configuration File
  • Odbccp32.cpl - ODBC Control Panel
  • Odbccp32.dll - ODBC Installer
  • Odbccr32.dll - ODBC Cursor Library
  • Odbccu32.dll - ODBC Cursor Library
  • Odbcint.dll - ODBC Resources
The versions of these files vary with the version of MDAC installed. For specific information, see the release manifest of the MDAC version you are going to install.

Drivers Shipped with MDAC

The following drivers are shipped with all MDAC installations:
  • ODBC Driver for Oracle
  • SQL Server ODBC Driver

Microsoft Access Driver

With MDAC version 2.6 and later, the ODBC Desktop Database Drivers are no longer supplied. If the Microsoft Access Driver is installed on a computer and you install MDAC 2.6, the driver is not removed. However, if you want to install this driver on a computer that has never had it, you need to download a redistributable version of Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3.

Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver

The Visual Fox Pro ODBC driver ships with Microsoft Visual FoxPro, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Office 2000, and MDAC version 2.5 and earlier.
