FIX: Successfully Transmitted Interchanges Are Tracked with "Transmission Failed" Status

This article was previously published under Q313259

SYMPTOMS

The BizTalk tracking database may contain entries that indicate that an interchange was not transmitted successfully. These entries appear with a status of DTA_ERR_INTERCHANGE_TRANSMISSION_FAILED_HIT_MAX_RETRIES (nError value of 9).

These entries appear in the BizTalk tracking database even when the interchange in question was transmitted successfully. In addition, no suspended queue item corresponds to this tracking database entry.

CAUSE

This problem occurs on BizTalk servers that are processing acknowledgements for interchanges that are sent to the servers with a reliable envelope. If BizTalk Server fails to transmit a Reliable Messaging Acknowledgement to a trading partner, other successfully transmitted outbound interchanges can be tracked with a status of DTA_ERR_INTERCHANGE_TRANSMISSION_FAILED_HIT_MAX_RETRIES.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This bug was corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 Standard Edition
Keywords:
kbbug kbfix KB313259
