PRJ2000: "Windows Installer" Error Message When You Install Microsoft Project

When you attempt to install Microsoft Project 2000, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Installing this product requires the Windows Installer. An error occurred when installing or upgrading the Windows Installer.
This behavior can occur if an outdated version of the Windows Installer is installed on your computer.
To resolve this issue, update to a newer version of the Windows Installer. To do this, browse to the following Microsoft Web site, as appropriate to your operating system, and then follow the instructions to download and install the Windows Installer.
Redistributable (x86) v1.1 for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0:
Redistributable v1.1 for Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me):
NOTE: The Microsoft Windows 2000 installation includes Windows Installer version 1.1 and cannot be upgraded to version 1.2. Windows Me includes Windows Installer version 1.2, which is the current version. Microsoft Windows XP includes version 2.0 of the Windows Installer, and all of the platforms mentioned in this article can be upgraded to version 2.0.
