SYMPTOMS

A Content Management Server (CMS) 2001 administrator may notice that the Server Configuration Application (SCA) does not start correctly, or a user may receive one of the following error messages when the SCA is started:
The primary Microsoft Content Management Server entry point can not be found Please run the Microsoft Content Management Server Database Configuration Application to correct these problems.
When you run the Database Configuration Application (DCA), you may receive the following error message:
Could not get system account settings Invalid Range of parameters passed to function -2147352567 (File P:\NR\Server\ServeConfigurationAPI\NRSCAPI.cpp, Line 381)

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
When these problems occur, verify that the following three items are installed and set correctly:
  • The NR virtual directory must exist under the virtual Web site that is specified as the CMS 2001 entry point in the Database Configuration Application (DCA).
  • Both ISAPI filters, Resolution HTML Packager and Resolution Filter, must be registered at the master level of Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • The following registry key must exist, where x is any string that represents an unsigned integer (typically 0 for default IIS installations) and y is the instance ID of the virtual Web site (by default, the default Web site is 1 and the administrative Web site is 2):
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\NCompass\Resolution Content Server\Configuration\x\EntryPoints\y

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 3.0

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.

This was invaluable. Just a note you can use adsutil to figure out the instance # for the registry.
