HOWTO: Create System Center Operations Manager 2007 task to execute a VB script

SUMMARY

This Article provides the configuration steps for create the VB Script Execution Task on the Agent Managed Computer.

SYMPTOMS

In Operations Manager 2007, You may notice that you are unable to choose the Script Type (VB Script, J Script) in Create Task Wizard. Also, the VB Script execution may fail on remote agent managed computer.

RESOLUTION

To Create the VB Script Execution Task in Operations Manager 2007. Follow the steps below:
  1. Open Create Task Wizard.
  2. Choose Command Line Under Agent Tasks Category.
  3. Specify the Management Pack and click Next.
  4. Specify the Task name and Task Target and click Next.
  5. In Full Path to file, Type %WinDir%\System32\cscript.exe
  6. In Parameter, Type the path to the vbs file.(eg. "\\server\scripts\script.vbs")
  7. Specify other option and then click Create.
