Embedded Objects on Web Pages in Internet Explorer Are Either Slow to Appear or Do Not Appear
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, when you click a hyperlink
to an object (such as an image or document) that is embedded in a Web page on
your SharePoint Portal Server site, you may experience one or both of the
following symptoms:
- It may take a longer time than you expect (up to 45 seconds)
for the page to appear in the browser window. When the Web page finally
appears, the content for the embedded object is missing from the
page.
- The Web page in Internet Explorer stops responding (hangs)
and the Web page does not appear in the browser window.
This behavior may occur if the following conditions are
true:
- The hyperlink to the embedded object does not use "http:/"
in the Uniform Resource Locator (URL). For example, the hyperlink to the
content that you want to access may use "file:/" in the URL.
- The content that you want to access is located on a server
that is external to the SharePoint Portal Server server farm.
- The server (that hosts the content that you want to access)
is unavailable.
To work around this behavior, access the content later
when the server is available.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003
Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
