Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
In Microsoft FrontPage, when you open a Web page in Preview, and then click a hyperlink, the hyperlink does not work.
This problem may occur if you have installed the update for Microsoft Internet Explorer that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 813489 and you are trying to view a disk-based Web page. The 813489 update introduced a new feature that does not allow zone navigation in Internet Explorer. This feature was introduced in the
Mshtml.exe file, and that file is used by Preview in FrontPage. If the Web page you are viewing is a disk-based Web, you cannot use Preview in FrontPage to move from one Web page to another. As a result, a hyperlink in a disk-based Web that points to any other page in the disk-based Web will not work correctly.
To resolve this problem, add FrontPage to the list of Internet Explorer compatible programs.
To do this, follow these steps:
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Application Compatibility
- Right-click Application Compatibility, click New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type Frontpg.exe, and then click OK to name the DWORD value.
- Double-click Frontpg.exe.
- In the Value data box, type 1, click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
