Truncated setup log file is created during the installation of Office

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft Office Setup log file to troubleshoot Office Setup problems, instead of a verbose log file being generated, a truncated log file is created for the installation session.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when an antivirus program is running at the same time that you try to create a verbose log file. The antivirus program may prevent the Office Setup program from writing to the log file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you must turn off the antivirus program before you install Office and create a Setup log file of the installation. For more information about how to turn off your antivirus software, see the antivirus documentation.
