You cannot import files by using the File System option in the Import Web Site Wizard in FrontPage 2003
When you try to create a new Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
Web site by using the Import Web Site Wizard, you receive the following error
message:
You are unable to import a Web site from
\\servername\sharename.
Verify the location and then try again.
You expect the
File
Import dialog box to appear with the files from the remote folder
location automatically added.
This problem occurs if both of the following conditions
exist:
- You click File System under How do
you want to get the files in the Import Web Site
Wizard.
-and- - You specify a Web site location that is not a Web site.
To work around this problem, import the files from the
remote folder to your Web site by using the
Import command on
the
File menu. To do so, follow these steps:
- In the Import Web Site Wizard, click
Cancel.
- On the File menu, click
Import.
- Click Add Folder, type the remote folder
location in the Folder name box, and then click
Open.
The files from the remote folder appear in the
Import dialog box. - If you are finished adding files or folders, click
OK.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
