You receive a "Page cannot be displayed" error message when you access central administration on the Site Settings page in SharePoint Portal Server 2003
When you click
Go to SharePoint Portal Server
central administration under
General Settings on
the Site Settings page of your portal site, you may receive the following error
message:
As a result,
you cannot access SharePoint Central Administration from the Site Settings page
of the portal site.
This problem may occur if either of the following conditions
is true:
- You connect to the server that hosts the portal site by
using an alternate access mapping URL.
-and- - You connect to the server that hosts the portal site by
using its Internet Protocol (IP) address from a client computer that is behind
a firewall.
In either of these situations, you cannot access SharePoint
Central Administration when you click
Go to SharePoint Portal Server
central administration on the Site Settings page.
To work around this problem, do one of the following, as
appropriate to your situation:
- Connect to the server that hosts the portal site by using
the site URL, and then click Go to SharePoint Portal Server central
administration on the Site Settings page of the portal site. By
default, the site URL is
http://ServerName.
-or- - Start SharePoint Central Administration on the server that
is running SharePoint Portal Server. To do so, click Start,
point to All Programs, point to SharePoint Portal
Server, and then click SharePoint Central
Administration.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
