Compilation has finished successfully, but the ending status has not been properly set" error message is displayed on the Manage Audiences page after you compile an audience in SharePoint Portal Server 2003
In Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, after you
click
Start compilation to compile an audience for your portal
site, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following in the
Compilation errors area of the Manage Audiences page:
Compilation has finished successfully, but the ending status has
not been properly set. If you need to rerun audience compilation, stop the
current process before you rerun.
You receive this error message even
though the compilation operation is successful, and the audiences that you
configured in SharePoint Portal Server work as expected.
This problem may occur in situations when you compile an
audience that has a large number of members, and the defragment operation that
occurs takes a longer time than the default value that is currently set in
SharePoint Portal Server. For example, this problem may occur when you compile
an audience that has 7.5 million members. In this situation, instead of the
expected "No error" message in the
Compilation errors area of
the Manage Audiences page, SharePoint Portal Server displays the error message
that is described earlier in the "Symptoms" section of this article when the
compilation operation is successful.
The symptoms that are described in the "Symptoms" section of
this article do not affect the functionality of SharePoint Portal Server. You
can safely ignore the error message that is displayed in the
Compilation errors area of the Manage Audiences
page.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section of this article.
For more information about working with audiences in
SharePoint Portal Server, see the "Managing Audiences" topic in the
"Administration" section of the
Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Administrator's Guide. The
Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Administrator's Guide (Administrator's Help.chm) is located in the Docs folder in the
root of the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 CD.
