Microsoft Reader: Cannot Find Downloaded Book
After you read a new electronic book with Microsoft Reader,
the next time that you start Microsoft Reader the book is not listed in your
library.
This issue occurs if you open the book without first
downloading the file. If the file is opened from the Internet, Microsoft
Internet Explorer downloads a temporary copy. When Microsoft Reader is closed,
the temporary copy is deleted.
To resolve this issue, first try to locate the temporary
copy. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Search.
- In the Search Results window, click All files and
folders.
- In the All or part of the file name
dialog box, type *.lit.
- Under Type of file, expand More
advanced options, and then click All Files and
Folders.
- If you find books in temporary folders, and these books are
not in your library, copy the book files to the My Library folder in the My
Documents folder.
If you want to be prompted for a download location for the file
type, follow these steps.
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, and then click My
Computer.
- On the Tools menu, click Folder
Options.
- On the File Types tab, click
LIT in the Registered file types box.
- Click Advanced.
- Click to select the Confirm open after
download check box.
- Click OK, and then click
Close.
When you try to open a book from a Web page, you will be
prompted to save the book before it is opened.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
