SMTP recipient policy changes after you change your Internet domain name in Small Business Server 2003
When you run the Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard to change your Internet domain name, you may modify the existing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SMTP recipient policy.
This problem occurs if you have modified the Exchange 2003 recipient policy to generate non-default SMTP addresses.
Consider the following scenario: If you modify the Exchange 2003 SMTP recipient policy to use the %g.%s@contoso.com mail format, and then you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard, the resulting recipient policy combines the domain name that you enter in the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard with the domain name in the %g.%s@contoso.com mail format.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps after you run the Internet Connection Wizard:
- Click Start, and then click Small Business Server Administrative Console.
In the left pane, double-click the entry for your Exchange Server organization.
- Double-click the Recipients container, and then click the Recipient Policies container.
In the right pane, double-click the correct recipient policy.
- Click the E-Mail Addresses (Policy)
tab.
- Click the corrupted policy, and then click Edit.
- Change the value in the Address box to match the e-mail address format that you want to use. For example, type @contoso.com.
- Click Apply, click OK, and then click OK again to save and apply the policy.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
