Run Advertised Programs Tool Unexpectedly Quits When a User Runs a Program and You Upgrade the Systems Management Server Client at the Same Time
When a Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 client tries to use the Run Advertised Programs tool to manually run a program from SMS, the following behaviors may occur in the order that they are listed in the following list:
- The program starts to download from the SMS server.
- The user receives an error message that is similar to the following error message:
SmscliUI cannot be controlled.
- The Run Advertised Programs dialog box quits unexpectedly (crashes).
This problem may occur if you upgrade SMS 2003 Legacy Client to SMS Advanced Client at the same time as the user tries to manually run a program from the SMS server. After the client upgrade is completed, the
Run Advertised Programs dialog box works correctly.
To work around this problem, the user must restart the Run Advertised Programs tool, and then rerun the advertised program.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
