Status message 5414 is logged after you install a new management point in SMS 2003
After you install a Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 management point on a remote computer, status message 5414 is logged on the SMS primary site server. For example, this message may be logged if you install an SMS management point on an SMS secondary site.
This problem may occur if the management point does not have permission to add its machine account to the SMS_SiteSystemToSQLConnection_
site code group on the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server. If you grant the correct permissions after the management point is installed, the management point will not add the machine account to the SQL group.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Grant management point permissions to add the machine account to the SMS_SiteSystemToSQLConnection_site code group on the computer that is running SQL Server.
- Remove and then re-create the management point.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
