Log On Event Program Runs at Available Programs Manager 23-hour Cycle Instead of at a Logon Event
If you schedule a program to run only when a user logs on to the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 client computer, the program may run every 23 hours. The program runs even if the user has not logged on to the client computer.
Additionally, if a program is configured to restart the client computer, you may receive a success status message after 23 hours even though the client computer did not restart.
This problem may occur if any one of the following conditions is true:
- The Available Programs Manager (APM) is automatically restarted every 23 hours and APM treats this event as a computer restart.
- When you start SMS Monitor (a user-context program), APM treats this event as a user logon. All the programs that are set to run at Logon run.
- On the SMS 2003 Legacy client, if Launch32 has not run, APM treats this as if no user logged on. All programs that are set to run when no user is logged on run.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
