SMS Reports That an Advertisement Succeeded, but the Advertised Program Did Not Run
When you view the status of a scheduled advertisement in Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, the advertisement appears as
Succeeded even though the advertised program did not run.
This issue may occur if all the following conditions are true:
- You configure an advertisement as optional.
-and- - You use a dependant program chain, where the child program depends on the parent program.
-and- - The user logs on or off the client computer. (The user must do this for the parent program to work.)
In this situation, the SMS Program Execution Manager does not send a "waiting for user condition" status message.
To work around this issue, configure the advertisement as mandatory. When an advertisement is part of a dependent chain, you must configure the advertisement as mandatory. When you do so, the Program Execution Manager sends the appropriate "waiting for user condition" status message when the program requires user action on the client computer.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
