Live Communications Server Support Tools Use English After You Move Them
After you install Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003, when you move certain tools from the default Microsoft LC\Support folder, the tools no longer run by using the language version of Live Communications Server that you installed. Instead, the tools use the English language. The tools that are affected include the following tools:
- Dbbackup.exe
- Dbimpexp.exe
- Dbreport.exe
This issue occurs in the following situation:
- You install a particular language version of Live Communications Server 2003.
- You move one or more of the support tools from the Microsoft LC\Support folder.
- You do not also move the localization folder for that language from the Support folder to the new tool location.
The tools that are described in the "Symptoms" section of this article are written by using the Microsoft .NET Framework. Because of this, language-specific resources are stored in a subfolder of the Support folder. For example, a subfolder that is named DE is created for German-language resources. When you run the tool, the .NET Framework loads the appropriate resources based on your current language settings (based on your locale). For example, for a German locale, resources that are available in the DE subfolder are loaded.
When you move the tool or tools to a different folder, you must also move the resource folder for the language version that you want to use.
To resolve this issue, copy the folder that contains the language resources for the language that you want to use with that support tool to the new folder where the support tool is located.
For additional information about how to use the support tools that are described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, view the following files that are located in the Documentation folder on the Live Communications Server 2003 CD:
- Dbbackup-ReadMe.doc
- DbImpExp-ReadMe.doc
- DbReport-ReadMe.doc

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
