Systems Management Server 2003 Express Setup Does Not Set the Site Server as the Default Management Point
Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Express Setup
does not set the site server as the default management point for the
site.
When you use the Express Setup option to install a Systems
Management Server 2003 Site Server, Setup automatically configures the site
server as a management point, but not as the default Management Point for the
site.
To work around this problem, you can manually configure the
site server as the default Management Point for the site. To do so, follow
these steps.
Note You must have Modify permission for the Site security object
class or instance to perform this procedure and the site server must be
configured as a management point.
- Click Start, point to
Programs, point to Systems Management Server,
and then click SMS Administrator Console.
- In the SMS Administrator Console, expand Systems
Management Server, expand Site Database, expand
Site Hierarchy, expand site
name, and then expand Site
Settings.
- Under Site Settings, click
Component Configuration, right-click Management
Point, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, click the
Management Point button.
On the Server
name drop-down list select the site server, and then click
OK.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
