BUG: The text takes a long time to appear when you modify a Web page in the Design view in FrontPage 2003

On This Page

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 to edit a Web page in the Design view, there is a long delay between the time that you type a character and the time that the character appears in the document.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you typed the text in a deeply nested table with a table cell that contains floating content.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Edit the Page in Code View

When you type text in a deeply-nested table with table cells that contain floating content, switch to the Code view in FrontPage 2003. This problem does not occur when you enter the text in the Code view window.

Method 2: Change the Wrapping Style of the Floating Content

If you have floating content that has the wrapping style configured, temporarily change the wrapping style to none. To do so:
  1. Right-click the image, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Appearance tab, click None, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
