Error message when you use Microsoft Office XP Step by Step Interactive

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run the Microsoft Office XP Step by Step Interactive training program, you receive the following error message:
The database you logged on to doesn't have any training courses
If you try to remove this program, you may receive the following error message:
The log file c:\windows\lrun32.isu is not valid or the data has become corrupted the uninstallation will not continue

CAUSE

This issue may occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • The database folder (MSPress folder) was not created during the installation of the Step by Step Interactive training program.
  • The Step by Step Interactive training program is installed incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove and reinstall the Step by Step Interactive training program. To do this, follow these steps.

Method 1: Remove the Step by Step Interactive training program

  1. Rename the lrun32.isu file. To rename the lrun32.isu file, follow these steps:
    1. In the C\Windows folder, locate the lrun32.isu file.
    2. Right-click the lrun32.isu file, and then click Rename
    3. Type a new name for this file.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. On the Change/Remove Programs tab, click Microsoft Office XP Pro Step by Step Interactive Training, and then click Remove.
  5. If you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click Yes.

Method 2: Reinstall the Step by Step Interactive training program

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove Programs, click the Add New Programs, and then click CD or Floppy.
  3. Insert the Microsoft Office XP Pro Step by Step Interactive Training CD-ROM, and then click Next. When the Setup program starts, follow the instructions that are on the screen.
  4. When the Setup program is complete, click Close to close the Add or Remove Programs window.
  5. Restart the computer.
