Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
When you remove and then try to reinstall Microsoft Project 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Previous version is already installed.
This problem occurs if all the Project 2000 registry settings were not removed during the removal process.
Use the following method to resolve this problem.
Method one
Remove the Project 2000 Installer and Uninstall registry keys. To do this, follow these steps:
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate each one of the registry keys that are in the following list, right-click each registry key, and then click Delete.
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Features\8061EFD2ACDB1D117BEA000CF49BF2D3
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\8061EFD2ACDB1D117BEA000CF49BF2D3
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{2DFE160-BDCA-11D1-D7AE-00C04FB92F3D}
- On the File menu, click Exit.
