Error "The file name is too long" occurs when you try to save an account in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Business Solutions CRM 1.2, the "File name is too long" error occurs in the following conditions:
  • When you use Microsoft Business Solutions Sales for Outlook (the Outlook client) working offline and the client computer has a NetBIOS computer name that is 15 or more characters in length.
  • When you use the Microsoft CRM Web application and the Microsoft CRM server has a NetBIOS computer name that is 15 or more characters in length.
Also, you cannot create new accounts, contact, or orders using the Outlook client offline.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
