PRB: Error occurs when you try to rollback MDAC installation
When you try to rollback an installation of Microsoft Data
Access Components (MDAC), you receive the following error message:
Fatal
Setup Error
Microsoft Data Access Components cannot be rolled back.
Setup has detected that a different version of Microsoft Data Access Components
is installed on the machine.
This message can appear both as a
message box during the installation and in the dasetup.log file that is created
during installation.
This error occurs because you have installed MDAC security
patches or other fixes since the last full MDAC installation on your computer.
The MDAC installer does not support rollback in this scenario.
This
behavior is by design.
The installer in MDAC 2.6 and later versions has built-in
rollback functionality that can rollback to the previously installed MDAC
version as long as no additional patches or fixes have been applied.
For additional information about MDAC installation, visit
the following Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site:

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
