"Message could not be delivered to all recipients" error message when you disable the routing.am script in Microsoft Live Communications Server
When you use Microsoft Office Live Communications Server to
host Windows Messenger sessions, and you use Windows Messenger to send an
instant message to another user, you may receive the following error message:
The following message could not be delivered to all
recipients.
This problem typically occurs when the default routing
application setting (routing.am) has been disabled or removed from the Live
Communication Server Applications module.
To send Windows Messenger INVITE requests to another user,
you must make sure that the routing application setting (routing.am) is
enabled. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to
Programs, click Administrative Tools, and
then click Live Communications Server.
- In the Live Communications Server console, expand
Servers, expand
ServerName, right-click
Applications, and then click
Properties.
- In the Applications Properties dialog box,
make sure that routing.am is listed under Available
Applications, and then make sure that both the
Enabled and the Critical check boxes are
selected.
- If routing.am is not listed under
Available Applications, click ADD.
- In the Add Script-Only Application dialog
box, click Browse, and then specify the path of the routing.am
script. In the Application name box, type Routing
Application Setting - Default. In the URI name
box, type: http://www.microsoft.com/RTC/DefaultRouting,
and then click OK.
Note By default, the script path is
C:\Program Files\Microsoft LC\Server\routing.am.
- Make sure that both the Enabled and the
Critical check boxes are selected, and then click
OK.
This
behavior is by design.
Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI) are typically used as
unique identifiers. In Live Communication Server, the URI is a string that shows
both that the routing script was written by Microsoft and the purpose of the
routing script. It is not an actual destination. The URI can be modified, but
any change must also be reflected in the script.
The routing.am script is actually a message filter script
that dynamically routes requests to specific endpoints that are registered with
Live Communications Server User Services. For more information about message
filter scripts, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
