Crawl operations on multiple Lotus Notes content databases periodically stop responding in SharePoint Portal Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you configure multiple IBM Lotus Notes databases as content sources in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you may find that in certain situations, SharePoint Portal Server 2003 does not successfully crawl the Lotus Notes content sources. The crawl operations may periodically stop responding. Additionally, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
0x80042611
When you start the Lotus Notes client, the Lotus Notes client stops responding. The splash screen appears, and then nothing happens. Or, you receive a blank white screen.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the Lotus Notes API is not the latest version.

RESOLUTION

This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you installed the latest SharePoint Portal Server 2003 service pack, you do not have to install the hotfix.

Service pack information

This problem is corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
