You receive error 27788 when you try to install Live Communications Server 2003
When you try to install Microsoft Live Communications Server 2003, you may receive the following error:
Error 27788. Error '0x80072030' removing account(s) from global group 'Domain Users'
This problem occurs if the Domain Users group is not in the Users container during the PREP=DOMAIN step in the Setup command-line program.
To resolve this problem, verify that the Domain Users group is not in the Users container before the PREP=DOMAIN step in the command-line Setup program. If the Domain Users group is not in the Users container, you must locate the Domain Users group, and then temporarily move it to the Users container.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
-
Expand DomainName, and then expand Users.
- Verify that the Domain Users group is not in the Users container.
- Verify that the advanced features are enabled in Active Directory Users and Computers. To do this, click View, and then click Advanced Features.
- Right-click the root domain container, and then click Find.
- Verify that Users, Contacts, and Groups are selected in the Find list, and then verify that the appropriate domain or Entire directory is selected in the In list.
- In the Name field, type Domain Users, and then click Find Now.
- Right-click Domain Users in Search Results, and then click Properties.
- To find the location of the Domain Users group by the canonical name of the object, click the Object tab.
- You must temporarily move the Domain Users group from its current location back to the Users container.
- Rerun the setup, and then move the Domain Users group back to its original location.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
For more information about the PREP steps, see the Live Communications Server 2003 deployment guide that is located in the Documentation folder on the Live Communications Server 2003 CD.
