INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Windows Media Services 9 Series issues that are fixed in the Windows Media Services 9 Series software update package that is dated July 13, 2004.

Issues that are fixed by the software update package

This software update package enables Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) for the Windows Media Services 9 Series. Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) can use this functionality as a troubleshooting tool for diagnosing various server problems.

This software update package has to stop the service, replace a file, and then restart the service. If it cannot stop the service for some reason, you may be prompted to restart your computer.

You do not have to create or modify any registry keys to enable any software updates that are included in this package.
