Right-to-left characters in a field that is contained in a table may cause InfoPath 2003 to quit unexpectedly

This article contains information that may help you avoid this problem in the future.

Error signature

This article describes a program error that can have the following error signatures:
 Application name  Application version  Module name  Module version  Offset
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Infopath.exe      11.0.6252.0          Ntdll.dll    5.1.2600.1217   00008e20

Additionally, other offsets are possible.

SYMPTOMS

When you work in the program that is listed in the "Applies to" section, the program quits unexpectedly, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Microsoft Office InfoPath has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if a field in a table contains right-to-left characters such as Arabic, Hebrew, Indic, or Thai.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, change the property of the field that contains right-to-left characters to have right-to-left text direction. You can change this property while you are in design mode for the form.

MORE INFORMATION

The Office Error Reporting dialog box appears when an error occurs that causes a fatal event in the program. The dialog box includes a button to send the information about the fatal event to Microsoft. Microsoft gathers information about these types of events in a database to try to identify the cause.
