BUG: You cannot deploy a package that contains GB18030 Ext A. characters in the package name by using the BizTalk Server 2004 SEED deployment tool

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, the SEED deployment tool does not deploy packages that contain GB18030 Ext A. characters in the package name.

Note GB18030 Ext A. is a new Chinese character encoding standard.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the external unmanaged DLLs Fci.dll and Fdi.dll are used to compress and to decompress the CAB files. The interfaces to these DLLs use the ANSI character set and do not use the Unicode character set.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition
