BUG: The list of errors is incomplete when you use the Import Catalog Wizard to validate or to import an XML catalog file and validation fails in Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1, when you use the Import Catalog Wizard to import an XML catalog file and the XML catalog file validation fails, the list of errors is incomplete. The complete list of errors is displayed only when you save the errors to a file.

To import or validate an XML catalog file by using the Import Catalog Wizard, open the Catalog Manager, and then click Import a Catalog in the Task pane. In the Import Catalog Wizard, click Next, and select the XML catalog file to import or to validate. The steps to import an XML catalog file and the steps to validate the file are different.

If you validate the XML catalog file and the validation fails, the errors that are displayed in the Validate Catalog File dialog box are not complete. If you import the file, the wizard validates the file before it imports the file. When you use the wizard to import the file, the status of the import is displayed under Catalog Import Status in the left pane. When the import fails, click Import operation completed with errors or Import operation failed under Catalog Import Status. The Catalog Import Errors dialog box does not display a complete list of errors.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save the list of errors to a file. To save the list of errors to a file, do one of the following:
  • Click Save To File in the Validate Catalog File dialog box.
  • Click Save Errors to File in the Catalog Import Errors dialog box.
When you are prompted, type a file name for the validation error file. Use the file to see the complete list of errors.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Service Pack 1
