You receive an "Error 27557" error message when you try to install Live Communications Server
When you try to install Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003, you may receive the following error message:
Error 27557. Error
'0x80041013' setting WMI instance 'MSFT_SIPApplicationSetting' in namespace
'ROOT\CIMV2' during action 'AddAppSettingInstance'.
This problem may occur if authenticated users do not have the correct permissions on the installation folder. Incorrect permissions will be propagated to the installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft LC) when it is created if authenticated users do not have the correct permissions on the parent folder (C:\Program Files). Authenticated users must have the following NTFS file system permissions on the parent folder:
- Read & Execute
- List Folder Contents
- Read
Note Office Live communications Server 2003 is installed in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft LC folder unless you select a different path during installation.
To resolve this problem, set the NTFS permissions for authenticated users on the parent folder. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Programs, click Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
- Right-click the C:\Program Files folder, and then click Properties.
- In the Program Files Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
- In the Group or user names list, click Authenticated Users.
Note If you must add authenticated users to the Group or user names list, follow these steps:- Click Add, type Authenticated Users, and then click Check Names.
- Click OK.
- Click Authenticated Users.
- In the Permissions for Authenticated Users list, click to select Allow for the following check boxes:
- Read & Execute
- List Folder Contents
- Read
- Click OK.
Note If you install Office Live Communications Server 2003 in a different location, you must set the NTFS permissions on the parent folder. For example, if you install Office Live Communications Server 2003 in the D:\Microsoft LC folder, you must substitute the C:\Program Files parent folder with the D:\Microsoft LC parent folder in step 2.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
