You receive a "Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is not installed" error message when you try to install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) Reporting in MOM 2005
When you try to install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Reporting by clicking
Install Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Reporting in the MOM 2005 Setup program, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is not installed or you may have incorrect version of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
You may receive this error message if one of the following conditions is true:
- You specified an incorrect or an unavailable computer name or instance of SQL Server when you installed MOM 2005 Reporting.
- You are running a beta release of SQL Server Reporting Services.
- The SQL Server Reporting Services installation is incomplete or is corrupted. To confirm that is the cause of the error message, try to connect to http://ComputerName/reports, where ComputerName is the name of the SQL Reporting Services Internet Information Services (IIS) computer. If you cannot open the page, the SQL Server Reporting Services installation may be corrupted.
To resolve this behavior, use one of the following methods:
- If you specified an incorrect instance of SQL Server as the location of the MOM database, run the MOM 2005 Setup program, click Install Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Reporting, and then specify an available computer name or instance of SQL Server.
- If you are running a beta release of SQL Server Reporting Services, you must install the full release version. The full release version of SQL Server Reporting Services is 8.0.743.
- If you have a corrupted or an incomplete installation of SQL Reporting Services, you must repair the installation. To do this, follow these steps:
- Run Setup.exe from the Microsoft SQL Reporting Services CD.
- Click to accept the license agreement, and then click Next.
- Click Next, and then click Change Installed Components.
- Click Next to accept the current configuration, and then click Install.
If these methods do not resolve the error, you may have to remove the corrupted or incomplete installation of SQL Reporting Services. Then, you must reinstall SQL Server Reporting Services.
This behavior is expected in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
