Error 2755 in the MOMServer.log when you try to install Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 or Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Reporting

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 or MOM 2005 Reporting, the Setup program fails with a 2755 error. The following entries appear in the MOMServer.log:

You may experience this problem if one of the following conditions is true:
  • You try to install MOM 2005 or MOM 2005 Reporting from a mapped network drive.
  • You try to install MOM 2005 or MOM 2005 Reporting during a Terminal Services session.
  • You try to install MOM 2005 or MOM 2005 Reporting from a UNC session to the MOM 2005 CD.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by unexpected network errors during the installation process.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the MOM 2005 installation CD on the computer where you want to install MOM 2005 Reporting.
